Kim's looking in the mirror.

She misses having blonde hair. The red hair still isn't familiar. If she turns quickly she sometimes doesn't recognize herself.

The door to the room opens and she hears Chris's voice.

She knows it's time to be alone. Or at least to try to be alone.

"Why do you think that?"

"Because he looked sad."

"If you don't mind me asking, what did you say?"

"I told him that..." she frowns as she tries to remember. "I told him that I didn't know who he was and I don't."

"Well," Chris searches for something to say, "I'm sure he understands, I think it's just a difficult time for both of you."

Kim nods, she rubs a few strands of hair between her fingers. "Do you think the bar has hair dye?"

"They have pretty much everything else, I'm sure they'll have that," Chris says with a smile. Maybe dying her hair back would help Kim a little.

"Maybe I'll do that tomorrow," she whispers.

"That sounds like a good idea."

"Do you think there's someone in the bar who could just erase all my memories?"

"Probably. Is that what you want to do?"

"I...I think having no memories at all would be better than having conflicting ones."

"If that's what you want to do," Chris says slowly. She wasn't too thrilled with this idea but on the other hand it might be the simplest solution to Kim's problems.

"I'll ask around and see what we can do about that."

"I don't know, I think it would easier having to relearn everything than having to...figure out what's real and what's not. Because I don't know and I think...no, I know that I'm hurting people I love, or did love, or..."

Chris nods. "I'm just a little wary, I think. I'm not sure what a spell like that would entail or what side-effects it could have. But I will ask. Maybe Nita will know."

Kim nods, "I just don't want these memories anymore," she whispers.

"I know," Chris says softly.

[agirllost]

"What do you do with images you can't stop seeing?"

"I don't know," Chris says sadly.

"I try to make sense of things that bother me. Rationalize them and break them down into pieces so they don't worry me anymore."

"What can't you stop seeing?" She looks up at her.

"I was in the service and there was a friendly fire incident. A boy, about 11 or 12 was shot and he died." Bled to death. She closes her eyes at the memory.

"And there are some things I didn't see happen but I know enough about to imagine."

"I'm sorry you had to see that...that poor boy."

Kim looks down again as she speaks, "If you could erase that from your memory, would you?"

Chris thinks about this for a moment even though there's no other way she can think of to answer the question but the truth.

"No. I almost feel like I had to see that and that someone should remember what happened."

"A witness," Kim says after a moment. "But the things I can't...I'm not even sure if they ever really happened."

"I know. Your situation is a more complex," Chris says with a frown.
